WOMEN WHO SELL WITH HOLLY ALLEN
‘Women Who Sell’ is all about showcasing women who sell, and are thriving and challenging stereotypes. We feature real perspectives of what it’s like, the barriers and the breakthroughs.
Here, Holly Allen, Sales Development Representative at Deel shares her take.
What is your job title?
Sales Development Representative.
How did you get into sales and what makes it the career of your choice?
Like most people, I sort of “fell into sales”.
I’ve always loved working with people, I’m very money motivated, I like having targets I can work towards, I LOVE being in a commission based role and constantly pushing myself to work harder, and ultimately make more money!
Are there any barriers you have faced as a woman working in sales, and how have you overcome them?
I would say there have been some situations where maybe people (both men and women) underestimate my capabilities because of the way I look / my gender. It’s as though a bubbly blonde in her twenties couldn’t possibly have serious, technical conversations based on the stereotypes created by society.
What do you like the most about being a woman in sales?
I LOVE proving people wrong in these situations above!!
I also love connecting with other females in the space, supporting one another, and being proud to be a woman in tech.
What advice do you have for a woman wanting to get into sales and those wanting to advance?
Remember you are just as worthy as the C-Suite males in your company, as well as your customers. Also, support other females in the space.
